From the 17 until the 23rd Library Week will take place in April in Latvia!

The theme of the library week is “Celebrating together!” LBB 100”. During the holiday week from 2023 17 until the 23rd in April, libraries organize activities – talks, discussions, memory evenings, etc. activities – which draw attention to the life of Latvian librarians and the overall picture of the library industry.

Ventspils library invites residents to participate in the events organized in honor of the Library Week.

The holiday week will start with a concert by the Trio “Senda” at the Parventa library on April 16, at 4:00 p.m. Pianist Kārlis Gunārs Tirzītis, cellist Beatrice Blauberga and violinist Ilze Ābola will perform at the concert, playing the program “Beethoven and Brahms Youth Trio”.

On April 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Pärventa library will host a creative workshop for seniors “Book folding” using the Orimoto technique, where Tatjana Žukovska, librarian of the Pärventa library, will share her experience on how to create an interior object from books that have lived their life. On this same day, at 16.00, the Children’s Library has prepared a creative workshop for young readers “Book Master”. At 5:30 p.m., residents of Gāliņciems and other interested parties are invited to the Gāliņciems library event “Gāliņš lasa”.

On April 19 at 16.00 in Ventspils Main Library, Akmeņu Street 2, the annual event of welcoming the most active readers and presenting the book “Mirror Portrait of a Witness” will take place. The concert will be performed by Juris Pavītols, the founder of the “Līvi” group, and Matīss Pavītols on guitar.

On April 21, Latvian public media ombudsman Anda Rožukalne will visit Ventspils Main Library, residents will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion about public media and ethics in professional media.

From 4. till 28. in April, the exhibition “EX LIBRIS” of the collection of miniature graphic works of the artist and collector Andrejs Mārs Eizāns can be seen in the Ventspils Main Library.
