In December, the Concert Hall “Latvija” and the Theatre House “Jūras vārti” will host various events – concerts, productions, gatherings that will draw you into a whirlwind of music, dance and Christmas mood

On 3 December at 15.00, the Theatre House “Jūras vārti” will host the winter concert “Raiti rit deju soļi” (Dance Steps Flow Smoothly) by the dance ensemble “Liedags”, which will feature dancers of different ages, the senior dance group “Brīzīte” and students of the Contemporary Rhythm Music Department of the Ventspils Music School.

On 6 December at 19.00, the Ventspils Chamber Music Days concert “Cello ritmico” will take place at the Concert Hall “Latvija”, featuring percussionists Guntars Freibergs and Edgars Zaurs, as well as musicians from Lithuania – percussionist Pavel Giunter and cellist Gleb Pyšniak.

On 10 December at 17.00, a charity concert “No debesīm es atnesu” (From Heaven I Brought) will be held at the Concert Hall “Latvija”. Although this is the 13th Christmas event, it will be the first time that the concert will take place in the Concert Hall. The purpose of the concert is to help the children of the Centre for Families and Children with Special Needs “Cimdiņš”.

The visit of the musicians of the Strauss Festival Vienna Orchestra and conductor Peter Guth to the Concert Hall “Latvija” on 12 December at 19.00 has aroused great interest among the audience, as all tickets for this concert have already been sold.

On 16 December at 16.00 Aija Andrejeva, Jānis Aišpurs, Ventspils Big Band and Ventspils Chamber Orchestra will delight the audience with a Christmas concert at the Concert Hall “Latvija”. The concert will feature popular Christmas songs and compositions in new arrangements, as well as songs that we have usually heard performed by Aija and Jānis.

The very next day – on 17 December at 16.00 – the Concert Hall “Latvija” will take part in an unprecedented event in its history, which will be open to all lovers of classical music. The Euroradio Christmas Concert at the Concert Hall will be broadcast live on Latvijas radio 3 “Klasika” and will be heard in many countries around the world, so we invite you to take the opportunity to be at the heart of this event and experience Georg Friedrich Händel, Ferenc Liszt, Alfrēds Kalniņš and the premiere of a new work by Rihards Dubra, performed by the State Chamber Orchestra Sinfonietta Riga, pianist Daumants Liepiņš and organist Liene Andreta Kalnciema under the baton of Normunds Šnē.

The Christmas celebrations will continue at the Theatre House “Jūras vārti”, where on 20 December at 19.00 the singing actors Karīna Tatarinova, Edgars Pujāts, Kristians Kareļins and “Latvijas radio 2” on-air personality Kaspars Markševics will perform at the concert “Lai sirdi pilda prieks” (Let Joy Fill Your Heart).

On 22 December at 19.00, “Jūras vārti” will be in a different rhythm as one of the most influential tribute bands of all time “ABBA Gold” will take to the stage of the Theatre House for the first time, performing the famous quartet’s most popular hits as well as lesser-known songs.

This time, the concert of the series “Ērģeļmūzika svētdienā” (Organ Music on Sunday), celebrating the most beautiful holiday of the year, will take place on the Second Christmas Day, 26 December at 13.00. Performers: Larisa Carjkova (organ) and Baiba Renerte (mezzo-soprano). The concert programme will feature works by Latvian composers (Lūcija Garūta, Jēkabs Mediņš, Rihards Dubra, Marģeris Zariņš, Bruno Skulte) and foreign composers (Robert Schumann, William Gomez, César Franck, etc.).

On 29 December at 19.00, singer and songwriter Linda Leen will perform at the Concert Hall “Latvija” in the programme “Gaismas spēles. Gaisma ir tikai puse stāsta” (Games of Light. Light is only Half the Story) both by singing popular Christmas tunes and by musical surprises.
