From August 15 to 17, Ventspils will host Ukrainian Culture Days, providing Ventspils residents and city guests with an opportunity to get to know the rich Ukrainian cultural and artistic heritage. The aim of the events is to preserve and popularize Ukrainian cultural traditions, integrate the Ukrainian community into Latvian society, and show support for the Ukrainian people.

Program of events:

Friday, August 15 at 15.00

The opening concert of the Ukrainian Culture Days will take place at the boarding house “Selga”. The ensemble “Mrija” (conductor Jelena Novikova), bandurist Sofija Bezsmertna, as well as singers Tetiana Kolii and Oksana Lucenko will perform.

Saturday, August 16 at 13.00

The grand opening concert “Message of Peace” will take place at the Ventspils Culture Center. The ensemble “Mrija”, singers A. Bylya, T. Kolii, O. Lucenko, guest artists from Latvia and singers from Ukraine will participate.

Sunday, the 17th. august

At 11.00 Children’s Town – a musical performance for children “Lāčplēsis”. Children’s ensemble “Džereļce” (Jelgava) and bandurist Sofija Bezsmertna participate.

At 15.00 in the children’s park “Fantasy” – the closing concert of the Ukrainian Culture Days “Message of Peace”. The ensemble “Mrija”, singers A. Bylya, T. Kolii, O. Lucenko, guest artists from other Latvian cities and Ukraine will participate.

During the event, the “Ukrainian Farm” will be open, featuring creative workshops for children, an exhibition of paintings by Ukrainian artists, a tasting of Ukrainian national dishes, and an art fair.

Admission to all events is free.

Ukrainian Culture Days are organized by the Ventspils Ukrainian Cultural Society “KOBZAR”, with the support of the Ventspils City Council and the Ventspils Culture Center.
