Ventspils Seaside Open-Air Museum invites you to experience the promotions The museum inspires the event cycle “Ancient Skills” with Flax Day – August 23 from 12:00 to 15:00.
With the help of a special map, you will be able to walk around the museum territory and follow the flax path – from seed to fabric, which symbolizes the virtue of work, the rhythms of nature and the beauty of Latvian rural life. During the walk, you will have the opportunity to learn about flax farming in ancient times and today, observe the weaving process, as well as try your hand at a loom with the weaver of the House of Crafts Sanitas Vārpiņš. In turn, the museum gardener Loerts Krasnickis will reveal some secrets about flax cultivation, telling about this golden plant as an integral part of Latvian rural life.

Other activities have also been planned – the opportunity to wash linen towels, jump in a linen bag, mend linen fabric, participate in pony rides, as well as cook together a real rural porridge “Kuliš” with flax seeds and oil.
