The Ventspils Basketball Championship is nearing its conclusion, and this weekend, on May 31, the champions of the 2024/2025 season will be decided at the Olympic Center “Ventspils” basketball hall.

The gold medal game will take place at 1:30 PM between Ventspils Tehnikums and Līgo/Velo, while the bronze medal game will be held at 11:30 AM between Anzāģe/Pope and the Freeport Authority.

During the regular season, seven teams competed in a single round-robin tournament. Ventspils Tehnikums emerged as the winners, winning all six games. In second place was the Freeport Authority with 3 wins and 3 losses, followed by Līgo/Velo in third place, also with 3 wins and 3 losses. Fourth place went to Anzāģe/Pope (3 wins, 3 losses), fifth to Niedras (2 wins, 4 losses), sixth to Ventspils 36ers (2 wins, 4 losses), and seventh to SPARS (2 wins, 4 losses).

In the quarterfinals, the winners were decided by the aggregate score of two games. Līgo/Velo defeated Ventspils 36ers with a total score of 171:167 (72:79, 99:88). The Freeport Authority beat SPARS 208:150 (105:62, 103:88), and Baltijas Anzāģe/Pope overcame Niedras 207:166 (135:91, 72:75). Thanks to their victory in the regular season, the Ventspils Tehnikums team automatically qualified for the semifinals.

In the semifinals, Ventspils Tehnikums defeated Anzāģe/Pope with scores of 78:62 and 83:75, winning the two-game series by a total of 161:137. In the other semifinal, Līgo/Velo lost the first game 71:73 but won the second game 97:78 against the Freeport Authority, securing the series victory with an aggregate score of 168:151.
