At the Ventspils Museum in the Livonian Order Castle (17 Jāņa Street), on August 29th at 16:00, the opening of artist Dita Lūse’s solo exhibition SPACE will take place.
Artist Dita Lūse admits that she is captivated by places where the presence of history can be sensed—the twilight of medieval monasteries and cathedrals, the echoes of corridors and cloisters, where one can experience space, feel depth and perspective, and sense the awe-inspiring presence of time.
The exhibition “Space”, set within the 13th-century walls of the Livonian Order Castle, presents works specially created and selected by the artist for this location, which itself holds the imprints of time. Dita Lūse always impresses with her high level of technical mastery and refined sense of space. The artist possesses the ability to perceive the connections of universal order within the details of interiors.
The painter also took part in the painting plein air organized by the Ventspils Museum (2011), donating her artistic impressions to the museum’s art collection. Dita Lūse received her art education in Latvia (at the Art Academy of Latvia, 1996), Denmark, and the USA. The artist has held more than forty solo exhibitions. She regularly participates in various international art projects, achieving significant success (recipient of multiple Excellence Awards at Japan’s Art Olympia in 2017 and 2019; recognized as the best artist in the classical group at the Aviskar competition in Kolkata, India; participant of Art Revolution Taipei in Taiwan).
Lūse has also taken part in internationally significant art projects, such as the Beijing Biennale (China), Arte Laguna (Italy), and NordArt in Büdelsdorf (Germany). Her works are held in public and private collections in Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Greece, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the USA, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and India.
The exhibition by painter Dita Lūse is the concluding event of the project “Exhibition Season in City Galleries,” held with the support of the State Culture Capital Foundation (VKKF).
The meeting with the artist and the exhibition opening will take place on August 29th at 16:00.
