On August 30th from 20:30 at Staldzene Cliff, light, sound, and live fire will merge in the traditional Ancient Fire Night event. The scent of coastal pines will blend with hypnotic soundscapes and songs specially created for this occasion by musician and songwriter Linda Leen and composer-musician Rihards Zaļupe.
Evening Program:
At 20:30 – Sunset accompanied by the sounds of the kokle with musician Laura Drēziņa.
At 21:00 – Linda Leen and Rihards Zaļupe in the program “Ceremony.”
As darkness falls over the cliff, the natural gallery will be illuminated by the luminescent art exhibition “Peace,” while fire baskets light up the seashore.
To make travel to the event more convenient, PSIA “Ventspils Reiss” will organize an additional bus trip at 20:00 from the Ābolu Street stop in Gāliņciems. Return trip at 22:30 on the route Staldzene–Ābolu Street.

The bonfires lit along the Baltic Sea coast at the end of August symbolize unity for the coastal peoples and serve as a reminder of our history. Historical sources show that fire signals were used in the Baltic Sea region as early as the Viking Age—they helped sailors navigate and protected the coastline. Today, Ancient Fire Night has become a platform for creative artistic expressions along the entire Latvian coast.
The event is organized by the Ventspils Cultural Center, with support from the Ventspils City Municipality, the Ventspils Freeport Authority, and AAS “Balta.”
