On September 20, at the Ugāle Community Center “Gaisma,” an event will be held to honor the outstanding Latvian poet Aspazija on the occasion of her 160th birthday.


The evening program will begin at 18:00 with a conversation with writer Inga Ābele, led by Inga Ieviņa. It will provide insights into the significance of literature and the creative process, as well as address the relevance of Aspazija’s work in contemporary times.

At At 19:00, the audience will have the opportunity to experience a musical-literary event – the poetry concert “Sēd uz sliekšņa pasaciņa…”, featuring guitarist Mārcis Auziņš and singer Beāte Zviedre. In the duo’s performance, Aspazija’s poetry will gain a new resonance, intertwining with melodies by well-known composers Jānis Lūsēns, Raimonds Pauls, and Zigmars Liepiņš, specially arranged for this concert. The program also includes original compositions, blending with poetry readings to create an ethereal and artistically rich collage.

The event “Poetry Days: Aspazija 160” invites attendees to a gathering where literature and music come together, ensuring that Aspazija’s name and works continue to inspire audiences across generations.
