A tasteful French comedy in one act.
Playwright Ēriks Asus’ witty comedy “Romu spēles” (original title “Asie toirēni”), which has delighted audiences and critics in many parts of the world, will begin its journey to audiences across Latvia this fall.
World-famous French theater and film director, screenwriter and playwright
Ēriks Asus’s plays have been staged in many places around the world, but in Latvia, at the Daile Theatre (2017), his work “Ours” was staged, which earned great love from the audience.
Asus has also received the prestigious Molière Prize, which is the main theater award in France, and countless films have been made based on his witty scripts – “Simply Love”, “Our Women”, etc.
Pierre is a family man, a commercial director at a camera lens manufacturing company. While his wife and son are on vacation at a ski resort, the director decides to invite a young girl he met by chance at a bar to his home. In his middle age, he decides to taste the “forbidden fruit” for the first time, starting a promising flirtation, but everything does not go as planned, and the events and unexpected turns experienced during the night will forever change Pierre’s life.
“When staging plays, two things have always been important to me – excellent dramaturgy and great actors. This time is no exception. I chose Eriks Asus’ play because the author is a great master of the comedy genre and, in my opinion, when there is so much gloom around, tasteful humor is what everyone really needs” – this is what the director of the play, Intars Rešetins-Pētersons, says about the production.
