2025. In the spring of 2018, Georgy Osokin officially joined the ranks of the legendary record company “Deutsche Grammophon”. This is a significant event not only for the musician himself, but also for the entire music world. Cooperation with “Deutsche Grammophon” is a high-level recognition of the artistic level, comparable to the main awards of international competitions. The label, which boasts more than 125 years of history, cooperates only with outstanding musicians – those whose words will be written in the future of classical music.
The first joint project between Osokin and Deutsche Grammophon is the album “For Arvo”, which is being released on the eve of the 90th anniversary of the great Estonian composer Arvo Pert. Pert is an extremely important figure in the academic music of the 20th and 21st centuries. His path – from radical avant-garde to sacred minimalism (“new simplicity”) – has led through the composer’s own tintinnabuli style and has developed into a real spiritual quest that reflects the inner transformations of an entire era. This music contains silence and light, tension and peace, childlike purity and metaphysical depths.
The program “For Arvo” is a unique pianistic project, which includes original works by Pert and new piano transcriptions created by Osokin. Many of Pert’s legendary compositions will now be heard for the first time in this – piano solo version. These are not simple re-arrangements – they are a rebirth of music with a new meaning, given by the prism of the experience of a live performing artist. With extreme precision and sensitivity, Osokin reveals hidden levels of meaning, the true emotional core of Pert’s minimalism. And the name of Georgy Osokin is worth remembering for anyone who follows the development of classical music today.
The premiere concert of “For Arvo” will be an event for all those who value contemporary classical music, unconventional thinking, and the depth of artistic intent. The audience will hear for the first time how a new sound form is born – and a new story that will write a new chapter in the history of modern music.
