From August 7 to 14, 2025, MIKC “Ventspils Music High School” will host the French Orchestra of Young Talents (OFJT – Orchestre Français des Jeunes Talents) for a summer camp, which will involve more than 70 participants – young musicians and educators from France, as well as students of the string, wind and percussion departments of Ventspils Music High School.

The camp will include intensive work in symphony orchestra and chamber music ensembles, master classes and joint preparation for concerts. Young people will play under the guidance of experienced teachers and a professional conductor. The concert program includes such works as Richard Wagner’s “Nuremberg Mastersongs” overture, Peter Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto, Gustav Holst’s “Mars” from the “Planets” cycle, Georges Bizet’s “Carmen Suite”, as well as a piece by a Latvian composer.

Visitors are invited to three free concerts:

August 12 at 17.00

This project provides young Latvian musicians with the opportunity to perform in an international orchestra, develop professional skills and gain valuable collaboration experience. The camp also promotes Ventspils as a cultural city in Europe.

OFJT (Orchestre Français des Jeunes Talents) is an educational orchestra initiative founded in France that promotes the professional development of young talents by offering high-quality orchestral practice and concert experience. OFJT has won the Golden Award at the International Orchestral Competition in Vienna, Austria, for two consecutive years – in 2024 and 2025.
