The first slide evening “What’s in the Garden?” will take place on Thursday, June 12, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the writer Herberts Dorbe Museum, Ērgļu Street 1.
During the summer months, we will return to the 1970s at the writer Herbert Dorbe Museum – a time when slide projectors were used for family evenings instead of modern digital projectors, and mountain trips, boat trips and, of course, favorite garden flowers were viewed on a bright wall or a hung sheet.
During the slide show “What’s in the Garden?” we will look at pictures of Ventspils residents’ allotments from the 1970s and 1980s. The historical footage will take you back to a time when gardens were not only a source of food, but also a source of pride and a place of rest for the soul.
Museum gardener Māra Skane will show slides showing her own garden, as well as landscapes from the greenery of the Seaside Open-Air Museum. After the screening, you will definitely have memories to tell!
Slide evenings are part of the “Museum Inspires” summer offer, which aims to promote the study of local history and the involvement of local communities.
