We invite you to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the restoration of the Independence of the Republic of Latvia in Ventspils with a festive program: the city will host various cultural and entertainment events and activities for both families with children and adults.
In honor of the Independence Day of the Republic of Latvia, festive decorations will be placed in Ventspils at the beginning of next week, including a four-meter-long table decoration with the text of the Latvian Constitution on the Town Hall Square, the “Freedom” decoration on the Great Square, a stand with ten Latvian flags on the Newspaper Alley by the “Umbrella” fountain, and the “Puzuri” decoration group will create a festive atmosphere in the Pārventa Center. Latvian national flags will be placed on the main streets and gathering places of Ventspils.
To make the holiday season in Ventspils enjoyable for both adults and children, all the city fountains will be turned on from May 1. The adventure park will be open every day with all its attractions, the boat “Hercogs Jēkabs” will be waiting for guests on board from Wednesday to Sunday, while the Mazbānītis will run from Thursday to Sunday. The water adventure park will be open every day until May 11 (then from Wednesday to Sunday), offering entertainment for the whole family. From April 29 to May 4, it will be possible to write your wishes for Latvia in the foyer of the VIZIUM Science Center, sharing feelings and greetings, creating a shared festive mood.
On Sunday, May 4, at 12:00, the program “Our Home. Our Story” will be broadcast at Ventspils Town Hall Square – bringing to life the atmosphere of an old Latvian homestead. The Tālberg family, folk dance groups “Strautuguns” and “Liedags”, as well as the post-folk group “RIKŠI” will take the stage, inviting visitors to cheerful Latvian dances.
After the event in Rātslaukums, at 4:00 p.m., a festive concert will be held in the concert hall “Latvija”, featuring Rihards Mačanovskis (bass-baritone), Marta Spārniņa (violin), Guntars Freibergs (percussion) and Aigars Reinis (organ), performing compositions by Latvian composers Pēteris Vasks, Rihards Dubra and other authors. A free entrance ticket to the concert can be obtained at the box office of the concert hall “Latvija”.
On Sunday, May 4, at 11:00 AM at Ventspils Children’s Town and at 3:00 PM at the children’s park “Fantāzija”, we invite families with children to the puppet theater performance “A Tale of Latvia”, as well as to enjoy an entertaining program with Ēriks Balodi.
To spend May 4th in a fun and exciting atmosphere, from 12:00 pm, the Mystery Bubbles bubble trick show will take place in the Basketball Hall of the Olympic Center “Ventspils”. The audience will be greeted by a bubble illusionist, a laser show, a neon room, smoke special effects and interactive activities for children. The audience will have the opportunity to watch world-class bubble tricks performed by illusionist Roberts Valdmanis, who has been admired by audiences all over the world.
In the evening, from 6:00 p.m., visitors will be delighted by a new comedy show, The Late Night Show – WITH HUMOR “TO YOU”, which will feature the best Latvian comedians. This entertaining event will not only make you laugh, but will also give you the opportunity to meet the stars of the show and enjoy truly hilarious performances.
