“Sklandrausis” is a traditional Latvian food; especially in Kurzeme. It is a sweet tart, made of rye flour and filled with potato and carrot filling, scattered with caraway-seeds. It is usually eaten with cold tea or milk.

In EU “sklandrausis” has been registered as the first protected agricultural product in Latvia and has been included in the list of Euopean Comission Traditional Specialties Guaranteed.
