In the Market square near the bell tower there is a machine that makes commemorative coins, where anyone can make their own Ventspils commemorative coin.

Instructions are on the machine in several languages so everyone can succeed in getting a souvenir made with their own hands.

The process is very simple – by inserting one euro and five-cent coins into the machine, and by actively rotating a wheel-like handle, you can watch the mechanism create an oval-shaped commemorative coin from the dropped five-cent coin.

One side of it shows the Ventspils City coat of arms, and the other side – the Ventspils City Market Square bell tower with a clock. When the newly created coin is ready, it rolls into a special opening, from where you can take your finished coin.
