Angerminde medieval castle mound

Angermünde Castle or Rinda Castle was a vassal's castle of the Bishop of Kurzeme in the 14th and 15th centuries. The castle was completely abandoned in 1720. Up to this day, only the foundations of the castle and some small fragments of the stone wall have survived. The castle was built on the border of the ancient lands of Vanema and Ventava, which has later become the state border of the Episcopate of Kurzeme and the Livonian Order. It is the archaeological monument of national significance.
