On March 18 at 5:00 p.m., the folk dance concert "Land flourishes, land flourishes" will take place at the "Jūras vārti" theater house, where the Ventspils middle-generation folk dance group "Strautuguns" has invited friend groups from different parts of Latvia to participate in a joint dance program.
The concert will feature the Ventspils University College Youth Folk Dance Group “Strautuguns”, the Lielvārde Culture House Youth Dance Group “Pūpolītis”, the Druva Secondary School Youth Dance Group “Puzurs”, the Lielvārde Culture House Middle Generation Dance Group “Vēji”, the Jaunpils Culture House Middle Generation Dance Group “Jaunpils” and the Saldus Parish Druva Culture Center Dance Group “Druvas Seniori”.
VPDK “Strautuguns” began its activities in 2012. Last April, a rehearsal seminar for mastering the repertoire of the 17th Dance Festival dance performance “Eternal Engine” was held in Roja, during which the group was nominated for participation in the closing concert of the 27th General Song Festival “Together Upwards” at the Mežaparks Great Stage. This is considered a special achievement, as Ventspils dance groups have not been nominated to participate in this program in the last two decades.
