On the evening of 21 June, Ventspils residents and guests are invited to visit the Seaside Open Air Museum, where Summer Solstice will be celebrated starting at 21.00. Songs, dances and ancient traditions, followed by the lighting of a fire sculpture and meditation by the sea.

Visitors will have the opportunity to learn the rituals of Summer Solstice. Rucava chapel “Paurupīte” will provide a lively atmosphere and dancing. Folklore group “Laipa” will recite folk songs, and youth and middle-generation dance group “Strautuguns” will perform lively dances. There will be an opportunity to weave your own wreath from twenty-seven Midsummer herbs, listen to stories and beliefs about Summer Solstice from the herbal wives, as well as fortune-telling shrouded in mystery.

Shortly before 22.30, we will set off from the Seaside Open Air Museum in a singing procession to Ventspils beach (by the 6th footbridge) to light a spectacular fire sculpture , during which everyone will have the opportunity to meditate in peace to the sounds of the sea and the marimba. The fire sculpture will be created by artist Haralds Gerts.
