On Monday, April 7, at 4:00 PM, the Main Library will open an exhibition of paintings by artist Aina Tobe, “The Messenger of Light.”
Painter and leader of the folklore group “Delve” Aina Tobe was born in Saldus, but her life path has taken her to Northern Vidzeme. The artist graduated from the decorative design department of Liepāja Applied Arts Secondary School. For many years, Aina Tobe has worked as a drawing teacher at Bīriņi and Vidriži primary schools and as a painting instructor at Lēdurga Art School. She has also led painting courses at Latvian 3×3 camps.
"I am happy because I can paint, engage in folklore and live in the countryside, surrounded by nature. The plots of my works come to me both in dreams and when I am awake, they naturally incorporate seasonal moods, mythological images and esoteric symbols. They come to me unexpectedly – as a touch of spiritual vibration, from which a new painting is later born as a challenge and a game," says the artist.
Together with the folklore group “Delve”, Aina Tobe has participated in many concerts and festivals in Latvia and abroad. Aina Tobe is happy to share her rich knowledge in the field of folklore with others.
The exhibition will be on view at the Main Library from April 7 to May 9.
