On Friday, September 12, at 12.30:XNUMX, as part of the event “How I Wrote a Book” and Poetry Days, poet Kārlis Vērdiņš will visit the Gāliņciems Library and tell readers about how poetry and books are created.
Kārlis Vērdiņš is a well-known poet, literary scholar, rewriter, editor, screenwriter, translator, and music composer, a three-time recipient of the Latvian Literature of the Year Award and other literary awards.
Kārlis Vērdiņš's poetry was first published in 1997. In addition to poetry intended for an adult audience, Kārlis Vērdiņš also writes for children.
In total, four poetry collections for children by Kārlis Vērdiņš have been published. The first – “Burtiņu zupa” – with illustrations by Otto Zitmanis was published in 2007. This was followed in 2016 by the collection “Tētis” with illustrations by Reinis Pētersons and in 2018 by the poem “Dilles tante” illustrated by Rebeka Lukošus. The most recent poetry collection for children is “Jandāliņš” with illustrations by Lote Vilma Vītiņa. All poetry collections have been published by the publishing house “Liels un mazs”.
