Jazz saxophonist and composer Toms Rudzinskis and Danish jazz's brightest double bassist Kenneth Dahl Knudsen will visit Ventspils with a special double concert over the holiday weekend, November 20. The concert's special guests are the Ventspils Big Band brass band and vocalist Kristīne Cīrule.
As part of the Baltic tour, at a concert in Ventspils, listeners will hear the new album of the same name by Tom Rudzinskis' electro-acoustic quintet "ABYSS" and the debut album "Zukunft" by Danish bassist Kenneth Dahl Knudsen's futuristic rock/jazz/drum'n'bass trio "Kemaca Kinetic". Jazz musicians from Latvia, Denmark, Germany and Ukraine will meet on stage, as well as special guests - the Ventspils big band wind instrument group and jazz singer Kristīne Cīrule.
Listeners can expect expressive melodies, strong rhythms and a vibrant interplay between musicians. The music of the Danish “Kemaca Kinetic”, according to critics, is described as “incomparable within the genre and completely captivating the listener’s mind”, while in the second part of the concert, Rudzinska’s Berlin-based, mythology-inspired, multi-layered jazz/fusion album “ABYSS” will be performed on stage by a 12-member band.

Knudsens and Rudzinskis are well-known musicians on the European jazz scene. In 2021, they jointly released the big band album "Space Big Band", which received nominations for the Latvian and Danish Music of the Year Awards, as well as being included in the "European Jazz Media Chart", "Lufthansa" and "Qatar Airways" airline music selections.
