This year, Ventspils' creative collectives have prepared special programs, increasing the joy of lighting the city's decorations with concerts starting at 2:00 p.m., while the first chords for the city's main Christmas tree lighting ceremony will sound at 5:00 p.m. A holiday market will be open throughout the day.
Daytime concerts in the festively ruined Great Square German Cultural Society Ensemble “Windau”, Anna Gegere, Latvian Folklore Group “Laipa” of the Culture Center, Contemporary Dance Studio “Skorpions” of the House of Creativity – director Inga Spodiņuka, Dance Group “Mini Lāsītes” and “Lāsītes” of the Culture Center, Cheerful Santa Clauses and Women's Choir “Lība” – director Margita Kronberga, Estere Busule, Ventspils Blumīzeristi, Little Prince Planets and Another Planet, Choir of the Ventspils Baptist Church – Director Rudīte Tālberga, Justīne Grīnvalde, Renāte Treimane, Rūta Pāvulēna and Lelde Manteja, Music Studio and Preparatory Class of the Ventspils Music Secondary School – director Elīna Lūse.
Before 5:00 PM in the evening at the Main Square Dj Ufo (Kaspars Upaciers) will cheer everyone up with fun winter dances. The city's main Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be opened by the pop group “Jūras akmentiņi”, followed by the Liepāja Puppet Theatre's performance “Elfiņa's First Christmas”. Children from Ventspils preschool educational institutions will have decorated decorative balls in advance, which will be solemnly installed on the large Christmas tree. With a dazzling display of lights, holiday trees and thousands of other decorations will be lit throughout the city. After that, everyone will be invited to participate in the program “Songs, Dances and Games” with Ufo.
