This fall, celebrating its 25th anniversary, one of the most well-known Latvian music groups «Autobuss debesīs» will go on a special anniversary concert tour, performing both the beloved songs of Imants Kalniņš and many of the band members' own compositions, which have been created over many years. Premieres are also expected!
The first part of the concert will feature previously unheard compositions, while the second part of the concert is intended as a sing-along with the audience, with the program including the well-known songs "Ir tikā tveice", "Sitiet bungas, mani mīlie", "Ar straumēm uz jūru", "Lilioma dziesma", "Tev nebja laika", "Es riksīsu", "Manu Eņģel", "Autobuss debesīs" etc.
The band's lead singer Marts Kristians Kalniņš shares his feelings about the upcoming concert: "Time! Time is a man-made unit of measurement, because it seems to us that it was just now - the moment when the idea for the band "Autobuss debesīs" was born. The greatest support in our celebration is the loyal listeners of our music for 25 years, with whom we will be able to meet and sing together again after a long time! I am sincerely glad that our original members of the band "Autobuss debesīs" Andrejs Grimms (guitar) and Ervings Znotiņš (keyboards) who lives in Sweden will join us at these concerts. See you! The group «Autobuss debesīs» was formed in 1998, when former schoolmates – Marts Kristiāns Kalniņš and Emīls Zilberts decided to realize a long-cherished dream and founded a group whose repertoire was based on the music of Imants Kalniņš – both the most popular songs from various stages of the composer’s work, and special compositions specifically for this line-up of performers. The 25-year repertoire of the group «Autobuss debesīs» has included six studio albums, the songs included in which have not only become well-known melodies over the years, but have also stood the test of time and become an important symbol of the times. The artists have given concerts almost throughout Latvia, performed in several European countries and the USA, and participated in many large-scale events
This concert tour will be accompanied by a special fact – the author of the lyrics for the band's first studio album and the song "Sitiet bungas,mani mīļie" (Beat the Drums, My Loved Ones) is the poet Viks (Viktors Kalniņš), who will celebrate his 85th birthday this year.
