The Concert Hall "Latvija" will feature Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection" performed by the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the State Academic Choir "Latvija" and conductor Tarmo Peltokoski.

The great Austrian composer and conductor Gustav Mahler is considered one of the last great Romantic composers. Mahler’s Second Symphony, also known as the “Resurrection Symphony,” is one of the most majestic musical works of the Romantic era. The composer himself admitted that the Second Symphony buries the optimistic young man of the First Symphony, which is why it begins in the nature of a funeral march. In total, this symphony has five movements, in which the themes of the last days, salvation, and resurrection reveal Mahler’s vision of the beauty of eternity.

For both the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and the State Academic Choir “Latvija”, this will be a return to Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, but for the first time under the baton of Finnish conductor Tarmo Peltakoski. Of course, it will also be the first time this piece will be performed at the “Latvija” concert hall.
