Today, Ventspils Ostgala is known as a quiet and peaceful part of the city with old fishermen's houses and narrow cobbled streets. The story of the creation of this part of the city is interesting, starting with the Prince's Enclosure - the first building and a large plot of land that was granted for use to the Livonian fisherman and poet Jānis Princis. Later, when J. Princis had already died, his youngest son Aleksandrs Princis bought this real estate from the Licentes Crown Manor and soon began to divide it into very small building plots and sell it to others. The main buyers were farmers who wanted to move from the countryside closer to the city. In a short period of time, a fishing village was formed in the territory of present-day Ostgala, which later became part of the city.

History Tuesday will be hosted by historian Līga Gabrāne on February 27, at 17:30 PM, at the Livonian Order Castle.

Admission is free.
