The group "Turaidas Roze" invites you to 40th anniversary concerts

The popular band "Turaidas Roze" will celebrate its 40th anniversary, and in honor of this event, they invite you to anniversary concerts together with the brass band "Horizonts" in the spring of 2025.

«The songs of the composer Imants Kalniņš, although not the easiest and simplest, unite generations; they are sung and listened to by both adults and children. Therefore, next spring we invite everyone to a joint celebration, because the holiday is here again, when we can sing together! It seems that everyone has their own Imants Kalniņš song that they hum, which changes depending on the mood, when the lyrics of the song are said so directly and precisely…» say the musicians, adding that these anniversary concerts will be very special, because the band will be joined on stage by the brass band «Horizonts», for which the songs are specially arranged, allowing them to acquire a special, previously unheard sound.

"Ten years ago, we performed together with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, but this will be our first time collaborating with a brass band, which has more than 40 musicians. The idea for such collaboration came to me while watching the very beautiful concert of combined brass bands at last year's Song and Dance Festival, which took place in Andrejsala - especially when they played Imants Kalniņš's music from the film "Blow, Winds!". I spoke to the concert conductor Tomas Kokamēgs, and we agreed that there would be a new concert program for "Turaidas Roze" in collaboration with the brass band "Horizonts". It will be something unprecedented and very interesting! The anniversary concerts will definitely feature the songs "Ai, māsa Lietuva!", "Kas jūs esat?", "Nelaid, māte, bērnus mežā", "Vējš un liepa" and other beautiful songs by Imants Kalniņš. The program also includes some lesser-heard songs, which will be a discovery for many," Olga Rajecka outlines the upcoming concerts, adding that local brass bands will perform in each city. "I think this project will definitely be successful for us, and several more surprises are expected," she adds.

The band's soloist Uģis Roze admits: "Since there haven't been any concerts for a wider audience for a long time, our anniversary tour will be an opportunity to please the fans of "Turaidas Roze"! There will be surprises at the concerts - both in the supporting cast and otherwise, so it will be interesting for both us and you, the listeners!"

Meanwhile, the band's guitarist Aivars Gudrais is eagerly awaiting the moment to see how everything will sound together with the brass band. "We have played together with a symphony orchestra in the past, but collaborating with a brass band will be unprecedented, because I have never heard them play Imants Kalniņš's music," he laughs and adds that he will be happy to see all the fans who attended the concerts of "Turaidas Roze" in the eighties, and also - together with their children and grandchildren. "It has also been a long time since we met Uģis and Olga at concerts, so this will be such a happy meeting on stage. And I am also waiting to see if ImKa will write a new song in honor of the anniversary of "Turaidas Roze"..."

The concerts will feature an instrumental group led by Jānis Miltiņš (keyboards): Jānis Rubiks (bass guitar), Aivars Gudrais (guitar), Armands Mediņš (percussion).

Let us recall that the group "Turaidas roze" was founded in 1985, and its most expressive musical calling card was composer Imants Kalniņš, as well as soloists Olga Rajecka and Uģis Roze, becoming an irreplaceable asset of Latvian pop music in the 80s.

See you at the concerts!
