The hero Švejk, created by the Czech author, who saw the world a hundred years ago, still retains enviable popularity among book readers and theatergoers and serves as a testament to common sense and one man's fight against state-level stupidity and bureaucracy. The arrival of the good soldier Švejk on the stages of various Latvian theaters is always richly complemented by songs - ironic, joyful, sad, full of soldier's humor. Švejk's songs live long after the play has ended its stage run - "Dear, the Emperor Calls Me in War" or "Goodbye, Girls", like others, have long lived their lives and are sung, hummed and whistled at the first need, regardless of the year of their creation.
The concert performance "Švejks - Then and Now" was a great success and the performances will continue in 2022, when Švejks will visit audiences in Ventspils, Valmiera, Jelgava, Ulbrok, Riga, Aizkraukle and other places in Latvia.
