August Strindberg's play initiated naturalistic theatre and is still a passionate story about femininity and its untamable nature. At the end of the 19th century, Strindberg shocked European audiences with his courage to speak about the basest instincts of human nature, which had not disappeared anywhere in the era of modernity. Behind the external declarations of gender equality, there were unconscious consequences - the uncontrollable drives of human nature were expressed in the inability to create true intimacy, and even a hypocritical return to the stranglehold of patriarchal society did not bring comfort.

A new version by playwright and writer Roman Dolzhansky has made its successful debut at the German Theater in Berlin. The Daile Theater production is based on Dolzhansky's adaptation and offers a critical look at the possibilities of modern communication technologies to manipulate human instincts.

The performance at the “Jūras vārti” theatre house is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Ventspils City Municipality.
