On April 23 at 4:00 p.m., the concert “The Path of Stars” at the “Jūras vārti” theater will honor the memory of Alex (1962 – 2021), the owner of the inimitable voice and long-time soloist of the band “Opus Pro”. Alex’s most popular songs will be performed by his daughter Aija Andrejeva, as well as other singers and bands.
At the concert “Jūras vārtos” Aija Andrejeva, guitarist and author of many hits of the band “Opus Pro” Harijs Zariņš, singers Jānis Aišpurs, Atis Ieviņš, Dināra Rudāne, Antra Stafecka, of the bands “Colt”, “Laime pilītā” and “Laika suns” will take the stage. The musicians will perform the most famous songs of the band “Opus Pro” – “I’m going to steal you”, “Rozā lietus”, “Dzimene”, “Tu un Es”, “Mīļais”, “Pēdējā pietura”, “Šonakt”, “Brīvību Baltijai”, “Svētuguns”, “Kā nievsīs” and others.
Liepāja Theatre actor Egons Dombrovskis will play the role of host. The event will be directed by Maija Kalniņa.
The idea for such a concert tour “The Way of the Stars” came to the singer’s daughter Aija Andrejeva after the first memorial concert for Alex was held in August last year. “Together we built the most beautiful and largest monument to my old rocker and dad Alex. This monument is full of human love, joy, tears, that magical electricity called rock and roll, and warm, warm light. I must admit, it’s hard to put into words the whole range of emotions that are bubbling up inside me,” Aija admitted after the first concert. Similar emotions await the audience in Ventspils, where the first concert of the tour in Kurzeme will be held.
Alex, whose real name is Oleg Andrejevs, played in an amateur ensemble while still at a technical school, followed by participation in the group “Metronoms”, in which, as in the technical school ensemble, he played drums, and as a soloist in the Latvian Philharmonic Ensemble “Opus”. Since 1986, he has been the vocalist of “Opus Pro” and the most recognizable member of this group. In the early 1990s, Alex, together with Ainara Virga, Uldis Marhilēvičs, Igo and Guntis Vecgail, performed in the Latvian group “Riga” in the USA, recording the album “Riga in America”, which was released only in 2015.
After a long creative break, Alex returned to the stage in 2011, performing extensively with Opus Pro, guitarist and former bandmate Harijs Zariņš, and his daughter Aija.
The concert in Ventspils is organized by SIA “Kurzemes filharmonija” with the financial support of the Ventspils City Municipality.
