On Thursday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m., a bright and joyful Roma music concert “Bahtali Gili” will take place at the “Jūras vārti” theater house, featuring the musical group “Ame Roma” and virtuoso violinist Aleksejs Koļesņikovs. The concert is organized by the “Muzikālie ornamenti” association.
“Bahtali Gili”, translated from the Romani language, means “happy song”. “Ame Roma” has chosen pieces for the concert program that are full of joy and positive mood. The concert will feature authentic gypsy songs and romances in Romani, Latvian and Russian, which are characterized by the temperament and love for music characteristic of the Roma. Aleksejs Kolesnikovs’ violin playing in the ensemble’s sound highlights the energy and expressiveness characteristic of Romani music.
The ensemble “Ame Roma”, whose goal is to cultivate and popularize Roma culture, has existed for more than 90 years. The fourth generation of musicians from the Kopilenko and Rudeviči families plays music in it, preserving the true spirit of the gypsy camp. The grandfather of the group’s leader Raisa Kopilenko, Andrei Kopilenko, founded the ensemble in 1934 in Ukraine, while his father Arturs Kopilenko continued the family traditions and became a prominent musician both in Latvia and abroad. The soloists Roksana Rudeviča and Ornella Rudeviča participate in the group “Ame Roma”, while Rino Rudevičs plays the guitar. The Rudeviči family has been organizing the International Roma Culture Festival in Latvia since 2015, which brings together the best Roma musicians from all over the world.
Violinist Aleksejs Koļesņikovs is a laureate of international competitions, a polystylist and a master of improvisation, who has participated in important festivals and television projects both in Latvia and abroad. His collaboration with “Ame Roma” has continued for several years, giving concerts in Latvia and abroad.
The concert will be held in one part, its duration is 1 hour 30 minutes. Tickets are available at the sales network "Biļešu paradīze".
The event will be photographed and filmed, and the materials may be published on social networks, websites, and other media.
