On March 20 at 12:00, artist and children's book author Dace Krēsliņa will visit the Gāliņciems Library as part of the State Culture Capital Foundation project “How I Wrote a Book”.

During the meeting, the author will talk about her creative path, how ideas for stories and illustrations come about, as well as about sources of inspiration – nature, animals and emotions. The conversation will be an opportunity to learn how everyday adventures with family and pets turn into colorful stories and illustrations. The artist’s creative path will also be outlined – from the creation of the brand “Dotta” to the project “365 days”, during which one watercolor work was created every day for a year.

Dace Krēsliņa has also gained international recognition outside Latvia – her works have been exhibited at the Bologna Children's Book Fair, and in 2025 the author received the Jānis Baltvilks Award for Book Art, becoming the best children's book illustrator of the year in Latvia. Her debut book "The Tale of the Princess and the Moon Child" was published in 2022, while her work "Postaža parkā" has received wide international attention.

Students from grades 1a and 1b of Ventspils Primary School 1 will also participate in the event. All interested parties who want to take a look behind the scenes of the creation of children's books are invited to the meeting.
