On August 2, in Ventspils, in the courtyard of Skolas Street 1, a unique luminescent street art plein air will take place, in which 10 artists from Latvia and Lithuania will participate, including several internationally recognized graffiti and visual artists.
Throughout the day, artists will create works of art with UV reactive paints, which can be fully viewed in the dark – under ultraviolet lighting. These works will be revealed to the audience after the City Festival fireworks, at 23.10:XNUMX p.m., when a special moody atmosphere will shine in the courtyard. The theme of the plein air “Peace” – will invite artists to visually discover their personal sense of peace. Each work will be like a unique “key to peace”, created through individual experience, color sensations and symbols.
Elementton, real name Aleksejs Odnorukovs, is one of the founders of the Liepāja graffiti movement. He began active activity in 1998 and organized the first graffiti exhibition in Latvia in 2004. He has created several significant wall drawings in Liepāja, including portraits and wall drawings of singer Austra Pumpure, composer Imants Kalniņš, poet Mirdza Ķempe and others. His works have been exhibited in Latvia and elsewhere in Europe, and his artistic language closely interacts with the urban context and stories.
Ramz Moses is a Latvian graffiti artist who has been drawing since 2000. He has participated in festivals such as Write4Gold un Baltic Graffiti Festival, winning awards for excellent technique. The artist is associated with several drawing teams – OMA, BTS, AOI, GMB. His creative motto “I will be young until I die.” (“I will remain young until the end of my life”) characterizes his free and energetically saturated artistic language.
Rodion Petrov or Rodion Petroff was born in 1985 in Klaipėda, Lithuania, and received a Master of Arts degree from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. His works have been exhibited at the Kunsthaus Hamburg, Villa Croce Museum, Ducal Palace Genoa, Italy, Factory in Paris and Montrouge, France. In 2017, the artist participated in a group exhibition Xin Dong Cheng Space for Contemporary Art in Beijing, China, and also held a solo exhibition Casual gallery in Malmö, Sweden. Rodion's works have also been presented at ArtVilnius at the art fair, Art Berlin un Erfurt Anger at the museum in the exhibition “Vilnius Vibes”.
Tadas Vincaitis is one of the pioneers of graffiti art in Lithuania. His works can be found in both public and private spaces throughout Lithuania, as well as in other countries – Latvia, Estonia, Palestine, Germany, Bosnia and elsewhere. In 2022, he became the official cultural ambassador of Kaunas – the European Capital of Culture. Tadas actively participates in international plein airs and exhibitions, popularizing the aesthetics of street art.
Dmitry Borodin, also known as Dimitry ARCH, is an artist and architect with over 20 years of experience in interior and exterior design. His works combine technical precision with emotional expression, creating a balanced and aesthetically strong artistic language. In parallel with his creative work, Dmitrijs creates graffiti and participates in various visual art projects, representing a multifaceted, contemporary perspective.
Inga Insberga has graduated from the Latvian Academy of Arts, obtaining a bachelor's and master's degree in environmental art. Since 2018, she has actively focused on oil painting, revealing trends in modern society through pop culture images and symbols. Her works are characterized by realistic depiction and sterile technical precision, which together create a surreal, virtual world-specific aesthetic.
Maruta Plavniece or Goods is a Ventspils artist with Liepāja roots, who works in the visual arts. She paints landscapes in the open air and in the studio, as well as illustrates children's coloring books. Marfa has created scenography for a puppet theater and actively participates in exhibitions and open airs. Her works are saturated with emotions, a strong mood and a sense of belonging.
Zanda Pudule-Indane is a versatile graphic designer and artist whose creative style combines natural aesthetics, cultural stories, and contemporary design language. Her works reveal a delicate balance between visual style and content.
Santa Dalbe is a contemporary artist who boldly pushes the boundaries of traditional art. Her work spans street art, textiles, clothing and accessory design. Santa combines urban aesthetics with the precision of craftsmanship, creating personal, feminine and powerful visual stories.
Paula Pundina is a creative teacher and artist working at Ventspils Art School. She inspires children, fosters their imagination and supports individual artistic expression. Paula regularly participates in creative events, where she happily shares her ideas and experiences, strengthening the creativity and self-expression of the new generation.
The main differences between conventional wall art and luminescent are the materials used, the visual effects and the conditions under which they are perceived. Conventional is created with spray paints, markers or other traditional art supplies, offering a classic street art experience where the focus is on colors, shapes and messages. These materials are visible in daylight or artificial lighting. Fluorescent graffiti uses UV reactive paints that glow under ultraviolet light, respectively, adding an interactive or dynamic dimension to the perception of the artwork, as it changes depending on the lighting conditions, attracting attention with its unusual glow or reaction to UV light.
