The Tourism Information Centre (TIC) of the Marketing and Tourism Department of the Ventspils City Council Administration invites all photography enthusiasts to participate in the Ventspils City Photo Contest. This year, photos can be submitted in digital format until September 15. The 40 best works will be selected from all the works and will be exhibited in a special photo exhibition, and the winners will receive cash prizes from the Ventspils City Municipality.
Each author can submit up to 30 photos, which reflect Ventspils - its everyday life, events, cityscapes and tourist attractions, as well as people and social life.
The evaluation of the photos will take place in two rounds, determining the winners in four categories. In the first round, the evaluation will be carried out by the Marketing and Tourism Department of the Ventspils City Council Administration in cooperation with the chairman of the competition commission, evaluating all submitted works and selecting the 300 best photos. In the second round, the competition commission will select the 40 best works and nominate the laureates in each of the categories:
• Promotional photo: A representation of Ventspils with tourist attractions and/or events suitable for marketing and advertising materials.
• Art photo: an abstract reflection of the city in both color and black and white.
• Drone photo: A bird's-eye view of Ventspils.
Every Ventspils resident and city guest will be able to vote on the portal www.ventspils.lv, choosing their favorite from 40 finalists. The photo with the most votes will be awarded the Audience Award.
The laureates determined by the commission will receive a diploma and cash prizes from the Ventspils City Council administration at the opening of the photo exhibition. The three best Advertising Photos will receive awards, as well as the first place winners in the nominations – Artistic Color Photo, Artistic Black and White Photo and Drone Photo. A cash prize will also be awarded to the Ventspils citizens’ favorite – the winner of the internet vote.
