The concert program is made up of a piano trio of two distinguished composers “youthful years – the Lt. van Beethoven trio op. 11 “Gassenhauer” and J. Brahms piano trio op. 8. Beethoven’s trio are full of lightness, humour and joy of life, and include variations in the finale on the theme of the comic opera of the time that the people of Vienna whistled on the streets – it’s also the origin of the title “Gassenhauer,” which today can be translated as a “hit” or even a “schlager.” J.Brams trio op. 8 is his first published piece of chamber music that the composer returned to during his career’s maturity, lauding it, thus combining his characteristically dramatic and youthful vigour with his brilliant sense of form and philosophy. The trio reveal the polarity and conflict of the human inner world and encompass all the core of Brahms’s fiction.

The trio’s “Senda” is made up of 3 musicians – violinist Ilze Abola, cellister Beatrise Silvija Blauberg and pianist Carl Gunard Tirsis. Musicians have been musicking together since 2013 in different ensembles in Latvia and Switzerland, but it was as part of the piano trio that they decided to merge in the summer of 2022. They are United by a shared passion for delving into the hidden subtexts of music and exploring the versatile possibilities and development of the piano trio through the centuries, thus revealing ever-new horizons of this genre.
