Two concerts will be held within the framework of the XVIII International Bard Meeting “Tatiana Day”, in which authors-performers from Ventspils, Riga, Moscow, Minsk, Plescow, Saint-Petersburg, Samara, Warsaw, Kiev, Hamburg, Parnu, Rovna, Vilnius, Gomel and Yerevan will perform.

On January 24, at 19:00, Parventa Library will host an introductory concert “Bards Are Joking”!

On January 25, at 16:00, the concert hall “Latvija” will host the main event – Gala concert!

During its existence, the festival has provided the Latvian public with the opportunity to get acquainted with dozens of creative authors-performers from Latvia, Estonia, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Germany, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Israel and Kazakhstan. The bard gathering in Ventspils has become one of the most striking events in the genre of songwriting in the whole Baltic region.

This year the festival will feature bards from nine countries, and most of them will step on stage in Ventspils for the first time. The geography of the festival is expanding and it will be visited for the first time by an Armenian representative. Interestingly, in the prievious year, Armenian songs were performed at the “Tatiana Day” festival by a participant from Berlin.

The festival program is based on songs performed in Russian language, however the diversity of languages has become a tradition of the festival. This year there will be songs in Polish and Ukrainian languages, for the first time – in Yiddish, and, of course, in Latvian language as well. The popular singer Eriks Loks will represent Latvian author’s song and Riga.

On the first day of the festival – Friday, January 24, at 19:00, Parventa Library will host the introductory concert and it will contain joke songs and the event’s title will be appropriate – “Bards Are Joking”. Free admission.

The most important event of the International Bard Meeting “Tatiana Day”, as usual, will be the Gala concert, which for the first time will take place at the concert hall “Latvija” on Saturday, January 25, at 16:00. The magnificent acoustics of the concert hall and the special atmosphere will add to the sound of the festival. On this day, bards from nine countries will offer mostly self-composed songs of their choice.

Thanks to the support of the local government and private sponsors, ticket prices have been kept at an affordable level, which is why for many this concert may become the first visit to the new acoustic concert hall “Latvija”.

Ticket price – 5.00 EUR.

For seniors, pupils and students – 3.00 EUR.

Tickets are available for purchase at the box-office or on “BIĻEŠU SERVISS” website.

The organizers are convinced that as in previous years the festival's concerts will attract not only the local audience but also songwriting fans from other cities of Latvia, as well as from Lithuania, who already know that Ventspils can be a great place to spend holidays. But the opportunity to see the new concert hall will be an additional incentive for the trip.

The International Bard Meeting “Tatiana Day” is held thanks to the Association of Ventspils Nacional Cultural Societies and financial support of Ventspils City Municipality.

The organizers express special gratitude to the festival sponsors:
