Exhibition of Paintings by Artist Andris Vītoliņš
Tuesday, 5. March — Thursday, 11. April. Teātra nams "Jūras vārti”, Karlīnes iela 40

Starting March 5, an exhibition of paintings by artist Andris Vītoliņš can be viewed in the large exhibition hall of the Theatre House “Jūras vārti”.

Large-scale paintings viewable at the exhibition were created during the previous years and reveal the author’s conscious transition from transmission of realistic architectonic structures in painting to abstract ornamentation, and paintings which have rhythmic patterns of tree branches as the main object. Nature theme has arrived recently in the author’s creative work, but even that he views as an endless interpretation of pattern rhythm.

The painting stylistics of Andris Vītoliņš corresponds to global perception codes characteristic to the dynamic 21st century. It is decoratively bright and suggestive. The artist finds inspiration by observing and evaluating the legacy of the recent past of cultural layers: banal rhythms of Soviet-era block houses, wobbly garden cottages, dynamics of abandoned factory buildings. The artist makes us critically revalue common perceptions of beauty and harmony.
