On Sunday, January 18, at 4:00 p.m., beautiful and inspiring organ music will be played in the concert hall “Latvija” – the concert will be given by the new generation organist Agnese Abramāne, who initially learned the basics of organ playing at the Ventspils Secondary School of Music.

Listeners will hear music by Benjamin Britten, Samuel Barber and Guy Beauvais. British composer Britten used the organ mainly as a magnificent addition to his choral works, however, his few solo pieces are fundamental and musically significant. They are characterized by rhythmic precision, giving each note a specific place. In the works of Barber, a representative of American neo-romanticism, the organ sounds like an entire orchestra. They are emotionally saturated and solemn. He masterfully uses the possibilities of the instrument, creating grandiose climaxes and meditative moments of silence.

Swiss composer and organist Beauvais brings humor and theatricality to organ music, and to this concert as well. His music is colorful, rhythmically complex, and often challenging the traditional understanding of organ music. The concert will also be given a special atmosphere by works and melodies inspired by sacred music, which create a peaceful and uplifting atmosphere.

Agnese Abramāne is a new generation Latvian organist with a broad musical horizon and active concert experience, regularly performing both in Latvia and abroad – in Germany, Sweden, Italy, the Netherlands and Lithuania. She is a master's student in the organ class of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, studying with Professor Vita Kalnciema, and has previously improved her skills with Kristīne Adamaite and Larisa Bulava. Agnese has also studied at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts, but has mastered the basics of organ playing at the Ventspils Music Secondary School. She has supplemented her knowledge and interpretation skills in master classes with prominent European organists and teachers, including Hans Ūlas Eriksson, Christoph Bossert, Lāszló Fassang, Wayne Marshall and others.

For her bright creative activity, Agnese Abramāne received the Ivars and Anitas Gaide Music Award in 2022 and 2024, as well as, together with her associates, won the sympathy award in the JVLMA competition for the Best Student Chamber Ensemble. Agnese also has a violin education and a JVLMA bachelor's degree in musicology. She has a special interest in medieval and sacred music - since 2017 she has been a member of the vocal ensemble "Schola Cantorum Vox Iubilantis". This versatile experience is also vividly revealed in her organ playing - sensitive, thoughtful and musically rich.

The concert is organized by SIA “Kurzemes filharmonija”. Tickets can be purchased at all “Biļešu paradīze” sales points, including online – bilesuparadize.lv.

Photography and video recording are possible during the event. The obtained materials will be used for publicity purposes of the event, on the website and social media accounts of the concert hall "Latvija"..
