The heart of the Old Town is the Town Hall Square with the Evangelical Lutheran Nicholas Church, the International House of Writers and Translators, the modernly reconstructed Main Library building, and the Digital Center.
Not far from the Market Square, on Skolas Street, is the city's newest tourist attraction – the Ventspils House of Crafts, opened in August 2007, with workshops for ceramists, weavers and blacksmiths, which are open for viewing. There is also a 19th century classroom here, where you can experience the atmosphere of a lesson from that time on an attractive excursion.
An oak tree planted in 1936 in honor of Archbishop Teodoras Grīnbergs grows in the Town Hall Square, next to which is the ancient and carefully maintained garden of the Ventspils St. Nicholas Evangelical Lutheran Church.
