Vējturi House (Vējturu nams) – a place for culture and recreation. The very name of Vējturi House reveals its ability to hold the wind and protect the person who is at the center of the house. (Vējturi - wind holders) This open-air concert hall enables hosting various outdoor events.
The Vējturu House can be used not only by the municipality, but also by the community and businesses to organize both public and private events. The Vējturu House can be adapted for academic and mass music concerts, festivals, as well as weddings, corporate and other events. Anyone interested has the opportunity to implement their ideas in this unique site.
The Vējturi House was not built in an empty place. Its origins can be traced back to 2003, when musician and artist Igo organized the first Jūrkalnes talka (environmental volunteering gathering). The first sketch of the Vējturi House, created by Igo, is more than 10 years old. It was clear from the very beginning that this non-standard object would not be an easy task for the municipality, architects, designers and builders. The municipality was able to attract significant European funding, implement the project, and construction was completed at the end of 2019.
