The Music Library is located on the 2nd floor of the Concert Hall “Latvija”, which is the first public library of its kind in Latvia and offers a wide range of services for music professionals and lovers.
Library visitors will certainly appreciate the quiet room and music listening capsules – egg-shaped chairs for lazily comfortable music enjoyment, where the visitor can sit down and isolate themselves from what is happening around them, listening to music in a very concentrated way. Here, the well-equipped audiovisual reading room offers music recordings in a wide variety of formats: CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, vinyl records, and lectures on music are also held. Readers can also enjoy music on subscribed digital platforms – medici.tv and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra’s Digital Concert Hall.
Musical instruments will be useful for practical music making: accordion, kokle, guitar, flute, synthesizer or digital piano. Various creative free classes are offered to groups of students and youth, which will both entertain and help them acquire new knowledge and skills.
On the last Saturday of each month, at 13.00:XNUMX p.m., the library hosts a creative and educational class for preschool children “Music Lesson for the Family,” and four times a year, creative Ventspils residents perform “(non)academic” music in a concert series. Admission to the events is free.
