The Bušnieki Lake nature trail winds around the lake.
- The nature trail is 8 km long, and it takes approximately 3 hours to complete it at a leisurely pace.
- The trail is well-maintained and accessible to cyclists, runners, walkers and ornithologists, including visitors in wheelchairs.
- A 187 m long pedestrian walkway has been created in the marshy lake area and at its end there is a viewing platform for bird watching, on which benches and an information board with pictures of birds found in Lake Būšnieki have also been installed.

Lake Būšnieki is unique with its location, on average 10 m above sea level, being only 1,5 km away from the Baltic Sea. The surface area of the lake is 330 ha. The maximum depth of the bed is 2,8 m.
Būšnieku Lake is a lagoon-type lake that has formed in a depression between dunes. The adjacent dune ridges are located from 23,6 to 20,8 m above sea level. On the western side of the lake is the nature reserve “Būšnieku Lake Shore”, which is included in the European network of protected nature areas NATURA 2000, and was established in 2004 and covers an area of 49 ha.
