The beach volleyball stadium on the Ventspils Blue Flag beach was opened in 2017.
The beach volleyball stadium has five beach volleyball courts, changing rooms, storage and a training room, as well as showers and court lighting. On a daily basis, mobile spectator stands with 48 seats, but if necessary, the beach volleyball stadium can also be transformed into an international competition venue with one central volleyball court and three additional courts and spectator stands for up to 1000 spectators.
Currently, a high-quality infrastructure with modern equipment has been created here, which will be used for training by both students of the beach volleyball club “Bloks” and other Ventspils residents, as well as the best beach volleyball players in Latvia. The new Beach Volleyball Stadium will also be used to organize international and Latvian-wide competitions. Such a project has been possible thanks to the initiative of the beach volleyball club “Bloks”, the cooperation of the Ventspils City Municipality and the Ministry of Education and Science.
In order to promote an active lifestyle and expand sports opportunities, as well as in response to the growing interest, targeted work on the development of beach volleyball infrastructure was launched in 2016. Last fall, four publicly accessible volleyball courts were ceremonially opened on both the right and left banks of the Venta River. Currently, Ventspils residents have access to 9 beach volleyball courts in the city.
