Ventspils Creative House is a large after-school complex for implementing various activities and programs on a city, national, regional and international scale. The Ventspils Latvian Society House, built in 1912, has been reconstructed, adapting it to the needs of modern youth, within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund “Creative House Development Project”. In addition, a planetarium and an observatory have been created within the project to provide interest-based education and as a sightseeing object for city guests.
Planetarium
The diameter of the planetarium dome is 8 meters and it seats 40 visitors. The duration of one screening in the planetarium is 35-45 minutes.
Observatory
Equipped with a high-quality telescope, with the help of which we observe the Sun during the day, while in the evenings (from September to April) we observe the planets, the Moon and the stars. Observations are accompanied by lectures by lecturers.
* Observations at the observatory are only conducted in good weather conditions.

Groups can choose their favorite films and shows from the planetarium's offer by booking the entire screening.
Films are available in Latvian, English, Russian and Lithuanian. Audio guides in foreign languages must be requested before booking tickets.
For school excursions:
When organizing excursions to the planetarium for schoolchildren or preschoolers, we offer them the opportunity to choose the content of the show themselves.
Preschools and primary schools For children aged 18-21, the session consists of three parts:
Planetarium + observatory* + interactive lesson:

The first part introduces the observatory;
in the second part, an animated film in which various natural phenomena and other issues related to natural science are explained in a language understandable to children;
The third part is an interactive lesson.
For preschool and primary school children:
Getting to know the observatory* + “Hrumka's adventures in the winter forest” + interactive lesson “Seasons”.
(In the lesson, children use game elements to create their own picture of one or two seasons, discussing what is characteristic of the seasons, consolidating existing knowledge, as well as learning something new.)
Getting to know the observatory* + “Hrumka and the Magic Rocket” or “Behind the Sun” + interactive lesson “Constellations” or “Planets”.
(In the lesson "Constellations", children learn about the constellation system through game elements, and from the materials provided, children create constellations.)
(In the lesson "Planets", children create a solar system from the given materials and, using game elements, get acquainted with the planets of the solar system and learn their names.)
Getting to know the observatory*+Planetarium film+interactive lesson "Moon".
(In the lesson, children will learn interesting facts about the formation of the Moon, what the Moon is like, its phases, and the tides caused by the Moon. With a Moon model, children will create different phases of the Moon, and the acquired knowledge will be reinforced with game elements in the form of competitions.)
For senior students:
Educational, popular science lesson, which is visualized on the planetarium dome + optional educational movie or cartoon, in which various natural phenomena and other science-related issues are explained in a language that children can understand. (The repertoire may change over time).

“Sun”
Information about the Solar System from Mercury to Saturn. The most important facts about the planets, the largest moons and the asteroid belt.
“Heaven”
The difference between the sky in the city and the sky in the countryside, light pollution. The most popular constellations and constellations visible throughout the year. The Orion Nebula and the Andromeda Galaxy. An impressive depiction of the collision of galaxies.
“Stars”
The movement of stars over thousands of years and changes in the appearance of constellations. What exactly is a meteor shower and when to observe it. What is retrogradation. The beautiful Cat's Eye Nebula and the interesting Saturn Nebula.
“Planets”
Satellites and their uses, the true shape of the Earth, an encounter with an asteroid, a trip to Jupiter and Saturn, the impressive rings of Saturn, our galaxy in the universe, and the Ring Nebula.
