The fountain "Saules laiviņas" is located in Jaunpilsētas Square in the very center of the city. The pool area is 250 m².
The fountain sprays water in the form of fine droplets, so that on sunny days visitors can watch a rainbow around seven polished stone floating boats.
The fountain “Saules laiviņas” was built in Ventspils, Jaunpilsētas laukums. The fountain basin – a symbolic sea, is designed in the shape of a lens in the center of the square with seven sculptural objects – stone boats that lead home – to the seashore, the sun (stainless steel “boat spines”), into which the fountain nozzles are embedded. The water kinetics are designed in the form of mist, creating the effect that the boats arrive at the shore in a light mist.
