Since the 16th century, Pope Manor has belonged to the influential Courland baron von Behr family. The territory of the manor historically included the three current parishes of Pope and Ances, as well as part of Tārgale parish. Pope Manor owned eight semi-manors – Ance, Vēde, Jāņmuiža, Kārļmuiža, Lonaste, Jaunpopes, Jaunmuiža and Rinda, as well as the coastal villages of Lielirbe, Pize and Lūzņu. However, the economic center and central building of the manor were located on Pope Hill.

The cultural and historical buildings of Pope Manor are the largest cultural and historical monument of national importance in Latvia, comprising 16 architectural and 11 artistic monuments.

The central building of the Pope Manor is the Pope Manor House, built in the mid-17th century, which has housed the Pope Elementary School since 1941. The first floor of the manor house has preserved unique wooden wall paneling and parquet, ceiling decorations with family heraldry, and historical stoves and fireplaces on the second floor of the building.

Standing on the porch of the Pope Manor House, which was transformed in the late 19th century in the neo-Gothic style according to the project of architect T. Zeiler, it is possible to look through the alley at the church built in 1771 and see the buildings surrounding the southern garden. On the right – the 19th century horse stable, further on the manor doctor's house or doctorate, but on the left you can see the manor manager's house and further on the manor barn, which date back to the 18th century. The oldest of the buildings is the Pope Manor Hunting Palace, which is located behind the manor house, on the other side of the pond park. The ancient tower-type building – the hunting palace is thought to have been built before 1653, as one of the two weather vanes that used to be on the roof of the building tells about it. Behind the manor stable is the Pops manor barn, built of red bricks fired at the Popes manor, while behind the manor manager's house are the manor blacksmith's house and the laundress's house, between which a small pond has been preserved. Behind the manor barn is the manor servants' house and the stable at the end of it. Next to the building was previously a carriage house, of which only ruins remain.

A path leads past the church down the hill through an alley to the Pope Manor Pharmacy and the historic church tavern, which houses the cultural center. An alley branching off from the church leads to the cemetery of the Pope Manor baronial family. The Pope Manor Alley is the only one in Latvia with the status of an architectural monument of national importance.
