On Saturday, October 11, the Ventspils Market will be filled with the flavors and colors of autumn – the Pumpkin Festival and the annual pumpkin contest will take place. Visitors to the event will be treated to delicious food, crafts, and creative master classes.
This year, when nature pampers us a little more modestly, we are looking for not only the biggest pumpkins, but also the most colorful, funniest, and strangest-shaped. If even one pumpkin has grown in your garden – it is valuable! Bring it, show it, tell its story, and give it a name.
The large pumpkin weighing competition will begin at 11:00 a.m. Pumpkins for the exhibition must be delivered to the Carillon Clock Tower on the day of the competition from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The pumpkins will be judged in three categories: the most beautiful, the heaviest, and the most interesting name, which will be determined by the visitors themselves, awarding a sympathy prize.
Especially for the holiday, chef Artis Lukša will have prepared a delicious pumpkin soup, which can be enjoyed for a donation (children – free of charge). Artis' prepared pilaf and Jānis' baked pumpkin pancakes will also be available for sale – to be enjoyed right there at the market and for takeaway.
Art lovers are invited to participate in a pumpkin painting masterclass led by Tatjana Urča. The number of places is limited – only 10 participants, so you must register in advance by calling 27426747. All materials will be provided, but please note that participation in the masterclass can take up to an hour.
On market day, there will also be an opportunity to meet various local home producers and craftsmen. For the first time, the market will be visited by Holy Bread from Jelgava and highly anticipated by buyers Iecavnieka oils. You can taste Spiritual shiitake mushrooms, will be a favorite Silenieki canned food, Prana Amber amber jewelry and ALDESIGN handicraft workshop with their pumpkin toys, Golden Valley 3D will demonstrate 3D printing capabilities and offer environmentally friendly design items.
