On March 18 at 1:00 p.m., translator and editor Maima Grīnberga will visit the Ventspils University Library as part of the State Culture Capital Foundation project “Translating Neighbors: Estonian and Lithuanian Literature”.
At the Ventspils University of Applied Sciences Library on March 18 at 1:00 p.m., Maima Grīnberga will introduce the participants to her latest translations, as well as talk about the diversity of contemporary Estonian prose. The event will be moderated by translator and literary scholar Astra Skrābane.
Those interested will have the opportunity to get acquainted with Maima Grīnberga's latest translated works – Jōnas Sildre's graphic novel “Between Two Sounds”, Jānas Kaplinskis' collection of essays “Everything is Wonderful”, Karlas Ristikivi's novel “Night of Souls”, Pēteris Sauters' novel “Don't Leave Me Alone. A Love Story”, etc.
Maima Grīnberga has translated more than 100 books from Finnish and Estonian. For her contribution to the popularization of Estonian and Finnish literature, M. Grīnberga has received many significant Latvian and international awards - the Finnish State Prize for a Foreign Translator, the International Jānis Baltvilks Prize, the Language Prize of the Estonian and Latvian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the Latvian Literature Prize of the Year, the Estonian Cultural Capital Literature Prize of the Year, the Ventspils International House of Writers and Translators and the Ventspils City Council Prize "Silver Inkwell", etc.
