On April 30 at 4:00 PM, a creative meeting with writers Kristīne Ulberga and Andra Manfelde – “Let's Read Spring” will take place at the Herberts Dorbe Museum.
The Herberts Dorbe Museum invites you to a literary afternoon with two bright Latvian writers – Kristīne Ulberga and Andra Manfelde. On the last day of April, the Dorbe Museum will host readings of their latest works performed by the authors.
Kristīne Ulberga is the author of many stories, novels and fairy tales. Kristīne's first book "I Don't Read Books" was written for her son, a non-reader, to encourage him to read (2008, Jāņa Baltvilkas Award). The book was followed by two sequels - "I Don't Read Books 2" and "Virtual Angel". The first book for adults - "The Green Crow" won the Latvian Literature of the Year Award 2012 in the Prose category. "The Green Crow" was also published in English in 2018. In 2017, the book "There" was published as part of the Latvian 20th century historical novel series "We. Latvia. XX Century" (nominee for the Latvian Literature of the Year Award 2018). Kristīne Ulberga's works have been awarded several times, the writer actively works with young writers, encouraging them to pursue professional careers.
Andra Manfelde is a poet and writer, author of several books for adults and children. The best-known novel “Adata” (2005) – an autobiographical work about a young woman’s struggle with drug addiction, has been reprinted, as well as a version of the musical drama by Zigmaris Liepiņš and the song “Ja tu man esi” received the Copyright Infinity Award and was included in the final of the show “Zelta dziesma”. The novel “Kosmonautu iela” (2025). The writer’s works have been well received, receiving both nominations and awards, including the Latvian Literature of the Year Award for the children’s book “Kurš no muš lidos?” Admission to the event is free.
