On Saturday, March 7, the ski hill “Lemberga hūte” hosted the season-ending entertaining event “March Madness at Lemberga hūte 2026”, which gathered attractive participants and a large number of interested people. The end of the season was celebrated with the tradition of riding in costumes and homemade vehicles from the ski hill, trying to overcome the water bath. Individual and team participants registered for the races, a total of 23 brave people.

In the nomination “Most Impressive Vehicle” the award went to the team “Guļavas”, who tried to overcome a puddle of water with a mattress, Andrej managed to make the “Biggest Splash”, the “Wettest Family” was the Bunny Mom with her Bunny, the “Brightest Team” was clearly “Freeski Ventspils”, the “Youngest Brave” competed with his dad in the team “From Winter to Summer”, but the “Sweetest Participants” were “Masked Worker” and “Cucumbers”. In the nomination “Nakedest Rider” the Grinch and Klāvs were awarded, but the “Nakedest Rider” was with the nickname “Meitene”. The incentive prize for the most interesting costume was won by “Pavasara vēstniece”, as well as commemorative awards for participation in the races were received by Šarlote and participants with the nicknames “Mārupes gurķis” and “Maiņas valēssais”. As a tradition, there was also a run up the hill, where Jägermeister and the Silrak pub provided coveted prizes.

This year, the winter at the Lembergs Hut ski hill was the longest in the entire history of the hill in terms of the number of working days of the season – the hill was open to visitors without a break from January 9, and it will work as the last day of this season on March 8. In total, these are 59 full days of the winter season.

The ski hill was first opened in December 2005, but the first March Madness season-ending event took place in 2006, while the last such events on the hill were in 2013, 2018, and this year. Photos of previous years' events can be viewed in the gallery of the ski hill's website lembergahute.lv

The ski hill will be open for the last day of the season on Sunday, March 8, when, in honor of Women's Day, women will be able to use the lift all day long by purchasing a one-hour lift pass.

We hope for a long season and a continuation of the tradition next year!
