On Saturday, October 25, at 7:00 PM, the Latvian Blues Band will celebrate its 25th birthday with the concert “A Quarter Century in Blues” at the Jūras vārti Theater, inviting listeners to go on an unforgettable musical journey, enjoy, feel, and celebrate life.
The exciting journey of the Latvian Blues Band into the world of blues music began in March 2000, when the musicians in Riga helped record an album by blues authority Johnny V, followed by an ambitious concert tour in Canada from Toronto to Calgary. In these years, popularity has also gained far beyond the country's borders, even in the homeland of blues in the USA, becoming the first European group to perform at the Chicago Blues Festival. Art Tipaldi, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Blues Revue", writes: "They have mastered and made almost every blues style their own - from South and West Chicago to Texas "shuffles" and Mississippi "soul blues". "Latvian Blues Band" accurately perceives the character and color of the blues, which is vividly reflected in the group's original compositions."
The band will celebrate a quarter of a century in blues with concerts in Latvia and Europe, including a stop in Ventspils at the “Jūras vārti” theater. The “Latvian Blues Band” lineup will be joined by longtime friends saxophonist Artūrs Sebris and trombonist Laura Rozenberga at the anniversary concert.

Over the past 25 years, the Latvian Blues Band has performed in 22 countries, participated in the largest European blues festivals and played in the best clubs. Three studio albums and four concert recordings have been released. Between 2000 and 2014, the band performed at the Bites Blues Club with more than 200 blues artists, and these concerts were later released in the CD series of several concert recordings, "Latvian Blues Band & Friends".
The concert at the theater house “Jūras vārti” is organized by SIA “Kurzemes filharmonija” with the support of the Ventspils City Municipality. Tickets can be purchased at all “Biļešu paradīze” sales points and online at bilesuparadize.lv.
